Writers & Researchers
We Need a Few Good Writers...
Do you have unique insight into your country of service? Are you passionate about its history, people and culture? Do you know those hidden spots along with practical information for travelers? Can you write with flare? If so, Other Places Publishing would love to hear from you!
Our vision is simple: to have Returned Peace Corps volunteers write travel guides about their country of service. We believe that RPCVs know their country of service better than anyone and posses invaluable information for travelers.
We are particularly interested in PCVs who will COS in the next 1-6 months and wish to remain in-country to research and write a travel guide. We will, however, consider all PCVs and RPCVs willing to remain in-country or travel to their country of service.
If you are up to the challenge, tell us a little about yourself and your country of service by emailing editor@otherplacespublishing.com.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Internships
Other Places Publishing is always looking for individuals with something to contribute to our company or those looking to gain experience. Our support staff – both editorial and design – is comprised of RPCVs along with those who have not served. Currently, we have the following internship opportunities available for students and recent grads at our Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill location. All of our internships are unpaid, but offer flexible hours and we’ll work with your school to arrange credit. If you are interested in any available internships, please email internships@otherplacespublishing.com
Assistant Editors
We are looking for individuals with a sharp eye and strong grammar skills to assist us in editing full or partial length manuscripts. Most of the work will be line editing, but you’ll be encouraged to help us strengthen the content and overall style of the book. This work may be performed remotely on a flexible, part-time basis.
Graphic Artists
Our books require graphic artists to create attractive maps, assist in page layout and typesetting. We use Adobe CS3/4. Although much of the work revolves around replicating existing styles, you’ll have a chance to build your portfolio while injecting your own creative flare when needed. This work may be performed remotely on a flexible, part-time basis.
